Technology is getting more and more compact. With the innovation of apps for nearly every mobile device on the market, our phones, mp3 players and tablet have turned into Swiss Army Knives with almost unlimited potential. I’ve even found a few apps that allow you to carry a personal trainer around in your pocket. If you’re looking to spend the New Year getting in shape, check out a few of these iPhone fitness apps.
Fitness Pro
This app might as well be called the “personal trainer eliminator.” Fitness Pro allows you to create workouts that target specific muscle groups, gives tips on how to achieve an ideal cardio workout and lets you track your workouts with a digital fitness diary.
Gym Goal ABC
This app actually costs something (gasp!) but for $0.99, you’re still getting a deal. This app works great in conjunction with your gym membership. It shows animations to guide you through each exercise and allows you to track to track your heart rate, target heart rate, body mass index and body mass rate.
Fitness Builder
Fitness Builder comes with a relatively high price tag ($9.99) but it contains wealth of fitness information. The app lets you choose from a huge library of preprogrammed workouts, each of which has a step-by-step instruction for how to perform it. One of the coolest features of this app is the ability to customize each workout by location. For instance, if you find yourself cramped in a small apartment with no access to a gym, you can choose the “hotel room” setting and the app will provide you with great workouts that can be done even in the tightest spaces.
