This post shares a simple tip that you may know already that made the file extensions visible. Some times we want to know the file types and its extensions from a list of files. The usual properties window may not give you the exact file type.. right?
The windows hides file extensions by default, the part of the file name after the dot. For instance if you have a notepad file "blogger.txt", this will just appears as "blogger" by default. This makes confusion when there are lots of file types with different extensions and same file name.Use Folder Options to show file name extensions so you can more easily work with your documents, BTW, The easiest way to identify files in windows by its extension is to do the following change in the windows explorer folder option from tools menu.
Steps to Show File name Extensions:-
- 1. Open windows explorer (simply My Computer)
- 2. Go to Tools >> Folder Options
- 3. Choose View tab.
- 4. Uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" box.
- 5. Click OK
Refresh the screen to make changes visible.
