This is a mozilla firefox tip to save computer memory (RAM) when the internet browser is minimized. This allows windows to allocate more memory to other applications and games running on your system. This preference setting allows windows to swap out memory from a minimized Mozilla application.
To do this:
- 1. Open mozilla browser in windows OS
- 2. On the address bar type about:config
- 3. In the filter field type config.trim_on_minimize
- 4. There may be a default value False which prevent Windows from trimming the working set
- 5. Double click the key to toggle.
- 6. Restart firefox
This tip is useful if your computer have insufficient memory to load all programs together. Please note that this trick may cause delays when restoring the firefox window after long time.
